Indian Spiced Whole Grain Doughnuts. Homemade.
First, I need to tell you that I've made doughnuts before. Dozens of them. Growing up, my closest friend and I spent many hours cooking together. Mostly from packaged food. We fried sliced spam, whipped up potatoes with corn kernels floating in a pool of butter, and cut doughnuts from refrigerated biscuit dough and coated them in cinnamon and sugar.
So I've made a doughnut or two in the past, but none as hypnotic as these.
Sourdough, whole grains, and warming spices. Fried dough sprinkled with cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, and sugar. It's like biting into a piece of french toast while sipping a chai latte. Unforgettable comfort. The kind you need to eat with a friend.
