We met at the bakery for lunch. D waited in the car with the little one who fell asleep on the ride over. I switched places with him in the front seat while he ran inside through the pooling rain to order a salad, sandwich, and two chai teas. The little one slept while I watched raindrops huddle on the windshield. The yellows, browns, and greens were muted and blurred. The day was a movement of circles. I hopped out of the shower and into the rain. Drove the car to the bakery to stay in the car. Back home before the snow and Christmas tree arrived.
I’m giving this yearlong project a spin. Undoubtedly, I will fall and pick up again. Knowing this makes it easier. Still, I plan to show up to record a short photo and story of my day. You’re welcome to join me. I’d love it really. We can give each other high fives and geek out with a hashtag (#ayearofus), not because everyone is doing it, but because we’re doing it, together. Showing up every damn day to make this creative habit real.
