Christmas day. Up at 3:30 am with L. Stayed in bed another hour, restless. He surveyed the tree and made guesses as to what each package held and told me who was getting what. I busied myself with breakfast preparations: eggnog French toast for him, coffee for me. Then the others woke. Presents opened, Christmas music played, and a quick nap for C. Roasted carrots in the oven for dinner followed by a quick street hockey game. Christmas siesta . . . we could have used one. Are the carrots burning? Oh my.
I’m giving this yearlong project a spin. Undoubtedly, I will fall and pick up again. Knowing this makes it easier. Still, I plan to show up to record a short photo and story of my day. You’re welcome to join me. I’d love it really. We can give each other high fives and geek out with a hashtag (#ayearofus), not because everyone is doing it, but because we’re doing it, together. Showing up every damn day to make this creative habit real.
