Saturday at Stop & Shop. Another weekend snowstorm was on its way. We waited in the car while they shoveled and passed time listening to Verdi’s Macbeth and reading It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (since he threw every other book I handed him over the seat). Everyone within reach of the storm synchronized watches and left for the store to arrive by 2 pm. After three loops around the parking lot we found a spot near the back along with three shopping carts left at the entrance. They ate strawberries while we loaded the cart with ingredients to make soup and donuts. Sunday would be a good one.
I’m giving this yearlong project a spin. Undoubtedly, I will fall and pick up again. Knowing this makes it easier. Still, I plan to show up to record a short photo and story of my day. You’re welcome to join me. I’d love it really. We can give each other high fives and geek out with a hashtag (#ayearofus), not because everyone is doing it, but because we’re doing it, together. Showing up every damn day to make this creative habit real.
