The dog walkers passed by, one then the other in opposite directions, about an hour apart. I watched them from where I worked, cleaning frames of glass by the kitchen window. A punch of vinegar filled the air as I rubbed specks of dirt back and forth, never seeming to make them disappear. I would pay someone in chocolate, soup, and bread, whatever it takes to finish this stage of preparing my photographs for a show. Bourbon too. I was dead serious. Any takers?
I’m giving this yearlong project a spin. Undoubtedly, I will fall and pick up again. Knowing this makes it easier. Still, I plan to show up to record a short photo and story of my day. You’re welcome to join me. I’d love it really. We can give each other high fives and geek out with a hashtag (#ayearofus), not because everyone is doing it, but because we’re doing it, together. Showing up every damn day to make this creative habit real.
