Sunday: We rushed out the door with coffee, wire, and a box of framed photos. Yo La Tengo’s (still, possibly, my favorite band) Tiny Birds on the car stereo, Speak and Spell in the backseat. I teetered on top of the ladder, leaned into the wall for support (hoping to forgot about being sick and dizzy), and strung photos from a hook close to the cascading ceiling. L assisted, offered wire cutters, tape measure, and level upon request. The folks at the store helped too (thank goodness for tall boys) and two hours later, we were out the door and down the street for Moroccan take-out.
I’m giving this yearlong project a spin. Undoubtedly, I will fall and pick up again. Knowing this makes it easier. Still, I plan to show up to record a short photo and story of my day. You’re welcome to join me. I’d love it really. We can give each other high fives and geek out with a hashtag (#ayearofus), not because everyone is doing it, but because we’re doing it, together. Showing up every damn day to make this creative habit real.
