I wanted to pop in with a quick note (typing with one hand, stirring dinner with the other) and share exciting news about my upcoming photography show, Culinary Tools, at Provisions in Northampton, MA. The series includes ten black and white archival prints of vintage kitchen objects. The show runs from March 8 through May 2. If you’re in the area, stop by on Friday, March 13 from 5 to 7 pm for the opening reception (wine + art + good fun). The prints are also for sale online in my Crated shop. Please check them out here if you are interested!
For this series, I photographed a collection of culinary tools that evoke history and memory. The women in my family collected antiques. Their kitchen shelves displayed dulled metal flour and sugar tins and misshapen biscuit cutters, worn out from daily use. Antique stoves and pie safes held pastries shaped by hand. I loved hearing their stories shared in the kitchen over coffee and pie.
