Rain paused on the windowpanes. Came on the wind then stayed put as if each drop had nowhere in particular to be. Warmed leftover soup on the stove while he toyed with the worm in our egg carton tomato garden. Still sick, he danced around on the couch, and wore himself out just as fast. Another request for toast, strawberries, cereal. I could feel the rumble in my stomach, the low pains of his flu. Not much of a spring break. It’ll get better though, I reassured him.
I’m giving this yearlong project a spin. Undoubtedly, I will fall and pick up again. Knowing this makes it easier. Still, I plan to show up to record a short photo and story of my day. You’re welcome to join me. I’d love it really. We can give each other high fives and geek out with a hashtag (#ayearofus), not because everyone is doing it, but because we’re doing it, together. Showing up every damn day to make this creative habit real.
