“For me, the camera is a sketch book, an instrument of intuition and spontaneity.”
― Henri Cartier-Bresson

All you need is you, your favorite camera (film, digital, smart phone, instant…), and ten minutes a day for 31 days. That’s it. Turn your camera on and go.

In this self-paced course, I’ll teach you how to develop your visual voice, make photography your daily habit, and pick up mad technical skills along the way. Whether you’re a new or seasoned photographer, the assignments will sharpen your eye and your technique. I designed it to be straightforward, fun, and effective. Over 31 days, you’ll delve into both the art and craft of making poetic images.

I’ll send you a file with all the course materials, including: daily photo assignments, handouts, photo notes, technical tips along with my responses to the prompts for encouragement. You’ll be able to follow along at your own pace, although I do recommend making at least one photograph a day for 31 consecutive days to kick-start your creative habit. You can start anytime, in the beginning, middle, or end of the month. Whatever works for you.

“Tonight I posted my last assignment. I can’t begin to tell you how much I have gained and grown from this course and the input and feedback has made me a better artist. I realized tonight on my drive home from a wonderful afternoon out with my daughter looking for a local artist’s wall murals around Roanoke just how much I’ve changed my way of seeing over the last 31 days. While sitting outside one of our favorite coffee shops waiting for night fall I found myself playing with bokeh, lens blur, and DOF just sitting at the table snapping shots of the evening activities on the sidewalk. I’m so glad I found this course.” — Amy

“Thanks to the students that have contributed on feedback. Thanks to Nikki for good material to work with. I was determined that I finish this class and do all the work. One thing led to another, for example, I might have to work out a Lightroom problem, and start working on shutter speed. I learned a lot. There was so much that I did not know, as in how to kick it up a notch. I needed this class to learn how to start making art. I have taken quite a few online classes, and this is an exception: in price, material, feed back, and goals. And of course one of the best reminders from Nikki is to do your best . . .today.” — Sally
